Tucked between volcanos in the high altitude valley of Chimaltenango sits the farms Uncas La Hermosa and Mama Cata, owned and operated by producer Max Perez. The high altitude micro-climate in the valley and volcanic soil rich in minerals creates the perfect circumstances for growing rare and exotic coffee varieties.
Max is part of a legacy of coffee growers, going back 4 generations, which is why before purchasing the farm in 2010 he travelled the country in search of the best growing conditions. After travelling to many different growing regions in search of the perfect micro-climate, he finally found Acatenango, and one of the highest plots in the region.
