The Gedeb Shabella washing station, located in the Kochere region of Ethiopia, is owned and operated by producer Getachew Eshete. Gedeb Shabella receives coffee from over 600 smallholder farms in the nearby area, most of which are operated by single families. Kochere is an area known for having soil rich in nutrients, when combined with the high quality process it creates a sweet, balanced, and refreshing cup.
This coffee has undergone a washed process. The washed process involves farmers taking ripe coffee cherries to the washing station, where they are first hand sorted and then depulped before being placed in fermentation tanks for 24 hours. After fermentation, the coffee is moved to a water tank to rest 24 hours. Once finished, the cherries are placed on raised beds to dry for 14-16 days.
