Wilmar Castillo grew up working alongside his father and three older brothers on the family coffee farms from their home in Libertad through Huehuetenango. Those early years of hard work on the farm were invaluable to Wilmar, and he attributes them to the success he has now. He recalls growing up with his fathers passion and care for coffee which has become a lifelong influence.
Wilmar always had a feeling that he would end up in Hoja Blanca, as among the communities in the area it had been considered a blessed land. It was 14 years ago when the family finally made the move to Vista Al Bosque, the name meaning “Overlooking the Forest”, a farm situated on the ridges neighboring two of his brother’s lots, he is now happily managing the farm with his wife and teenage son. The coffee we have today showcases Wilmar’s experience and passion, it reminds us of a sweet pastry with baked apple acidity and a heavy sweetness of caramel and brown sugar.
